Dr. David L. Berry – Founder & President
Dr. Berry is a fourth generation physician and an Austinite since 1978. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin in 1987. He completed medical school in 1991 at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston followed by his Ob/Gyn residency at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. Additional hours were spent in research areas of interest which included emergency medicine, infectious disease and critical care. He is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology both in obstetrics/gynecology and in maternal-fetal medicine.
Following residency, Dr. Berry completed his fellowship training in maternal-fetal medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He worked closely with world-renowned experts in prenatal diagnosis, invasive fetal diagnostics and therapeutics, infectious disease, cancer in pregnancy, and critical care obstetrics. He is also bilingual and highly proficient in medical Spanish.
In 1997, Dr. Berry finished his post-graduate fellowship at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Austin being his hometown, and recognizing that there were no specialists in medical complications of pregnancy, Dr. Berry penned his own business plan, applied for a Small Business Administration (SBA) loan and founded Austin Perinatal Associates.
Dr. Berry is committed to his family and has raised four children, the two oldest of which were born while he was in medical school. He believes in providing the same level of care for his patients that he demands for his own family. Although well-versed in the standards of obstetrical care for all patients, Dr. Berry prides himself in individualizing each patient’s care based on her needs and unique circumstances.
